Our charity partner

Our chosen charity partner is Helen & Douglas House, an Oxfordshire based hospice caring for children with life-limiting and terminal conditions, from birth up to 18 years old.

Helen & Douglas House provides around-the-clock care to families whose children have only a short time left to live allowing mum and/or dad, who are often that child’s carer, time to create happy memories.

At Hooded Owls we’re big believers in making bathtime fun and so to know that one of the highlights of a child’s stay at Helen & Douglas House is family time in the therapeutic pool, we feel it’s the perfect partnership.

Time in the therapeutic pool at Helen & Douglas House gives families much needed time for close skin-to-skin contact and cuddles, sometimes only possible with the aid of the water and for many of the children who have mobility limitations, the only chance for them to soak in warm water as baths at home are not possible.

That's why we developed two special edition hooded towels, featuring our 'Wrapped in love' trim which is based on the Helen & Douglas House logo. 15% of the sale price of every towel sold goes directly to Helen & Douglas House, helping to fund the care that this wonderful charity provide.

Frequently asked questions

How should I wash and dry my hooded towel?

Our hooded towels are made from high-quality 550g Organic cotton. With a little care they will last wear after wear, year after year. Here’s what we recommend to keep your towel looking as good as new:

  • Wash and dry before first use
  • Wash bright coloured towels at 40 degrees with similar colours
  • White towels should always be washed separately
  • Avoid washing with any items of clothing that may snag the towelling – eg. zips or velcro
  • Use softener sparingly (too much can leave a residue on the towel and reduce absorbency)
  • Line dry or tumble dry on a low heat to prevent shrinkage (tumble drying will keep them nice and fluffy!)
What size should I buy?

We have two sizes of hooded towel to see littles ones through from baby to tween. Our Standard size hooded towels are recommended for age 0–7 years, and our jumbo hooded towels are suitable for children age 7–13 years.

However these are guidelines. For tall children, or children on the cusp of the age bracket, sizing up is likely to provide better value.

What should I do about loose threads on my towel?

Due to the nature of towelling fabric, loose threads are inevitable at some stage of your towel's life. They are rarely indicative of any damage, but to avoid them getting worse, or catching on anything, it is best to snip them off with a sharp pair of scissors.

Do you offer personalisation?

Unfortunately we no longer offer personalisation on our towels

Can I choose the trim design and colour of towel?

Our towels are made for us in a factory in Portugal, so we are unable to offer bespoke combinations of trims and colours on our towels.
