Waterways week 5 - Shaving foam bath paint

Happy Friday! That's another week gone - hope you are hanging in there.

We heard from some of you that the bath paints activity we ran a few weeks ago was really popular with your little ones so we've come up with an alternative version which is even easier, using just two ingredients!

Don't forget, if you have a go yourself, please tag us on Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag #owlplay we'd love to see your pics 💛
What you will need:
✔ Shaving foam
✔ Food colouring
✔ Paint brushes and sponges
✔ A hooded towel of course to clean them up afterwards 😉 (!)

Step 1

Squirt a good amount of basic white shaving foam into 4 or 5 containers (or how ever many colours you'd like to mix).  We used foil cake cake cases but plastic bowls will work just as well.
Step 2

Add a couple of drops of food colouring to each pot and give it a good stir.  Unlike the bath paints made using body wash, these produce much prettier softer pastel colours and the spongy texture of the foam is fascinating for children.

Step 3

As before pop them into an empty bath with a few paint brushes and let the fun begin...
Step 4

They'll probably spend quite a long time painting with it and then just touching it with their hands and mixing the colours.
Step 5

This one doesn't end up turning brown but will eventually dissolve and can be easily washed down the plughole
Step 6

And they've been enticed into the bath which means they come out squeaky clean and we know just the thing to dry them off 😉
It's another messy one, anything involving water seems to be (!) but we hope you enjoy it. Let us know what you think!

Have a lovely weekend, and see you again next week!

Love, all of us at Hooded Owls
